From Facials to AquaGold Fine Touch, here’s a Beauty Treatment Guide to Help You Glow on Your Big Day
We all want to look our best every day, but it’s especially crucial on THE day of your wedding. The last thing you want to worry about while walking down the aisle is whether a wrinkle or dark spot is showing.
In the months leading up to your big day, the stress of wedding planning can undoubtedly take a toll on your skin. Do not despair. With the right beauty treatments and a little planning ahead, you can address bothersome skin imperfections in time to ensure that your skin will glow and that you will look your best self on your wedding day.
To help make you look and feel your best on your big day and ensure that you will walk down the aisle as a confident, glowing bride, consider this bride’s guide to help plan your prenuptial beauty treatments.
Facials Before the Wedding
Ideally, you will start thinking about your pre-wedding beauty regimen at least six months before your wedding day. If you start treatments early enough, you will have plenty of time to:
- Test out treatments to find the best and most effective treatments for your skin;
- Make a plan to treat skin issues before your wedding;
- Have multiple treatments, if your treatment requires multiple sessions;
- Let your skin heal; and,
- Get the best results from your treatments.
Deep-cleansing facials can help rejuvenate your skin, so it’s glowing and flawless on your big day.
So consider getting a facial treatment once a month, as well as 10 days before your wedding so if purging occurs, your skin will clear up in time for your big day.
The following are recommended beauty treatments based on your timeline and your desired results.
You Want: A Youthful Glow
You Have 6 Months: Microdermabrasion Facial Treatment
Microdermabrasion is a deep skin exfoliating treatment that uses fine crystals or diamond-tip wands to exfoliate the top layer of dull skin and reveal a smooth, even skin tone for a perfectly luminous glow.
Post microdermabrasion, your skin with be smoother and your products will penetrate the skin better. Microdermabrasion treatment is a gentle procedure, so there is zero downtime. However, it is not recommended for those with rosacea or moderate to severe acne.
Plan: 6 to 8 microdermabrasion treatments over 52 weeks.
You Have 1 Week: AquaGold Fine Touch
AquaGold Fine Touch microchannelling treatment uses a dermal stamp and 20 tiny 24-karat gold needles to quickly and painlessly deliver a cocktail of anti-aging products, such as Botox, dermal fillers, vitamins, Growth Factors and antioxidants, into the skin.
This treatment allows the products to be delivered very superficially right into the skin and absorbed efficiently for more effective results, specifically vibrant, glowing, hydrated and healthier-looking skin.
There is no bruising or downtime with this treatment, so it is safe to use one week before your wedding.
You Want: Treatment for Sun Damage
You Have 6 Months or More:
Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy helps reduce hyperpigmentation, such as brown discolouration caused by sun damage.
IPL penetrates the skin with a concentrated flash of light to eliminate brown sunspots. The result is even-looking skin without brown spots, with results that can last for years.
IPL therapy is mildly uncomfortable, with a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping on the face. It can also cause minor bruising, swelling, or crusting for up to a week after treatment.
Plan: 2 to 4 treatments, spread out every 4 to 6 weeks
*Note that IPL is not recommended during the summer or anytime one has tanned skin due to the risk of burning and damaging the skin.
The Fraxel laser treatment uses pinpoint lasers to target and eliminate sun damaged skin cells deep in the skin while stimulating collagen growth for healthy, clear, and refreshed-looking skin.
Along with treating sun damage, the Fraxel laser can also treat wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, and precancerous skin cells.
Plan: 3 to 5 treatments, spread out every 6 to 8 weeks.
Chemical Peels – Vivier Peels, Vivier Hyperpigmentation Home Program, Jessner-like Peels, SkinCeuticals Peels
Chemical peels remove the dull top layer of skin to reveal a fresh layer of smooth, even skin. Peels help clear up acne, blemishes, and precancerous lesions. Optimal results are only seen after several treatments.
Chemical peels are not painful, but you should expect some tingling or a mild burning sensation.
Since chemical peels can cause redness, and it takes a few weeks for the skin to peel off completely, you should aim to have your last chemical peel at least six weeks before your wedding day.
Plan: 3 to 6 chemical peel treatments, spread out every 2-4 weeks.

Retin-A is a prescription vitamin A derivative that helps correct sun damage by building collagen, regenerating elastin, and reversing pigmentation. It also helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Be sure to stay out of the sun and use high-SPF sunblock if using a Retin-A treatment since it makes the skin more susceptible to burning. It also may cause skin irritation and dryness.
Plan: Apply every night or every other night for 6 months—depending on your doctor’s recommendation.
You Want: An Even Complexion
You Have 5 Months: Intense Pulsed Light
Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy helps reduce discolouration, redness caused by rosacea, and broken capillaries for an even complexion.
IPL penetrates the skin with a concentrated flash of light to vaporize broken capillaries that cause redness. The result is smoother, even-looking skin without red or brown spots, which can last for years.
IPL therapy is mildly uncomfortable, with a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping on the face. And it can cause minor bruising, swelling, or crusting for up to a week after treatment.
Plan: 2 to 4 treatments every 4 to 6 weeks
You Want: A Wrinkle-Free Face
You Have 4 months: Fraxel Dual Laser
The Fraxel Dual is a non-ablative fractionated laser that penetrates deep into the dermis to stimulate cell turnover and boost collagen and elastin while minimizing inflammation. The result is tighter, younger-looking skin.
This treatment can be mildly uncomfortable, so your physician will apply a topical anesthesia one hour before treatment.
Since the outer layer of skin is not removed, the healing time is faster than with ablative treatments. However, you may experience a temporary sunburned appearance for a few days after treatment.
And keep in mind that you will have to wait two to three months to see visible results.
Plan: 4 to 5 treatments, spread out every 6 to 8 weeks.
You Have 1 Month: Botox
Botox is the go-to treatment to quickly smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes.
Botox is a purified protein that stops the muscle movement responsible for frown lines and wrinkles.
Since this is an injectable treatment, you may experience bruising at the injection site. So arrange to have this treatment completed 1-2 weeks before your wedding to ensure that any bruising disappears in time for the big day.
Plan: 1 treatment 1 month before your wedding
Beyond Botox – Considering Dermal Fillers
Aside from Botox, there are other injectable treatments such as dermal fillers that help plump up the skin, define features, contour the cheeks, jawline and chin, as well as reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles and folds just in time for your big day.
Juvederm and Restylane are made of hyaluronic acid and help reduce volume loss in areas such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth known as nasolabial folds or laugh lines. They can also address problem areas like the lines from the corners for the mouth to the border of the jawline known as the marionette lines and can plump and redefine lips.
Dermal filler results last 6–12 months. Bruising is always a possibility with fillers; therefore it is recommended that you plan this treatment about 4 months in advance if possible, in case several sessions are required for optimal results. At the minimum, you should plan to have this treatment no later than 2-3 weeks before the big day.
You Want: Your Own Eyelashes to Look Fuller, Longer, and Darker
You Have 16 Weeks: Latisse
Latisse is a prescription eyelash growth serum that creates longer, fuller, and darker eyelashes. You will start to see results after 6 to 8 weeks, and you will see the optimal growth effects after 16 weeks.
This treatment has zero downtime and rare, mild to moderate side effects, such as itchy, red, dry, or irritated eyes and skin hyperpigmentation.
Plan: Apply before bed every night at least 16 weeks before your wedding day.
