If you were less then kind to your face this summer and now are dealing with sun damaged skin, the fall months are an ideal time to start repairing the damage with IPL treatments. Additionally, those with acne prone skin or those who have fine lines and wrinkles can also benefit from these treatments.

IPL refers to Intense Pulse Light Treatments, also know as Photofacials or Fotofacials. Although IPL treatments at our Ottawa clinic can be performed year-round, for best results and to avoid complications due to sun exposure, we prefer that patients wait until the fall and winter months to have this procedure performed.

Photofacials take care of pigmentation problems (brown spots), facial redness (broken capillaries) and have the additional advantage of collagen induction, meaning it stimulates the growth of collagen, which helps to soften unwanted fine facial lines and dilated pores.

Photofacials remove up to 90% of visible sun damage by lifting the brown off of the skin and diminish rosacea by heating up and destroying the small facial capillaries. The end result is a more even skin tone and texture. This is why you will often hear the Photofacial referred to as a skin rejuvenation treatment. It is surprisingly effective at  taking away dullness and bringing back to the skin a renewed brightness and glow.

Although it is common to see a significant improvement in the skin after only one treatment, best results are achieved after a series of three to four treatments. IPL treatments are quick, easy and require no downtime, which means that regular daily activities go completely uninterrupted.

Now’s the time to get your skin glowing!
