Don’t Sweat it Anymore – Botox for Excessive Sweating

Home » Blog » Don’t Sweat it Anymore – Botox for Excessive Sweating

With the arrival of warmer weather, most of us are looking forward to storing our winter wear away and making place for our more colourful clothes , silk blouses and summer dresses. Unfortunately, this is not the case for those who suffer from excessive underarm sweating, also known as Axillary Hyperhidrosis.

Excessive underarm sweating affects as many as 1 in 50 adults and can have a significant impact on their day to day life and self-esteem. It most definitively affects the choice of clothing they will wear; avoiding colours, whites, silky material and often opting for layers even in hot weather. Axillary Hyperhidrosis can interfere with work, school and social life. Patients with excessive sweating are self-conscious when giving presentations in front of colleagues or when going on dates or during sporting events.

More importantly, it is often an embarrassing affliction that most prefer not to talk about. They fear being judged or negatively perceived. There is a fear that others will think they have poor personal hygiene when in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, patients with excessive sweating probably adopt a more rigorous hygiene routine and often change their clothes several times a day.

There is a solution: Botox Therapeutic and it works wonderfully.

Approved by Health Canada in 2001 as a solution to Hyperhydrosis, Botox is now one of the most effective treatments for this health issue. Botox treatments for underarm excessive sweating are easy and quick in-office procedures. Side effects are minimal to none. Results are seen in 1 week and will typically last for 7 months. But most importantly, the decrease in sweating following a Botox treatment can be 75-80% and even 100% in many cases. It literally changes an individual’s life.

Although not covered by OHIP, this treatment is covered by most private insurance plans. If you or someone you know or love suffers from excessive underarm sweating, let us help them them get rid of it.
