Deep Exfoliation to Rejuvenate Your Skin

Does your skin look dull, feel dry, and is in desperate need of a good exfoliation?  Does it feel like your expensive skin care products just sit on top of your skin instead of actually penetrating in and working their magic?  If so, consider adding Dermaplaning to your list of skin treatments.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning, also known as Dermablading, is a professional exfoliation treatment that gently scrapes off the top layer of your skin containing accumulated dead skin cells and fine peach fuzz hairs (vellus hair). This top layer of dead skin and hair causes the skin to feel dull, dry, and rough.

During a Dermaplaning session, a medical aesthetician uses a sterile scalpel at 45-degree angle over the entire face gently removing all dead skin cells. This exfoliating process leaves the skin feeling smoother, softer, and visibly more radiant. Your skin will also absorb skin care products more efficiently, allowing them to work to their full potential.

Because Dermaplaning also removes the fine vellus hair, makeup application is smoother and more effective following the treatment.

Before and Aftercare Information

Contraindications to receiving this treatment are limited, however, there are some precautions to consider. Refrain from getting this treatment if you…

  • Have had recent exposure to direct sunlight;
  • Have been tanning in a sunbed;
  • Are currently being treated with Accutane;
  • Are on blood thinners; and,
  • Have active acne; cold sores, or other open skin lesions.

Side effects are minimal and include temporary redness, rarely mild swelling, especially for those with sensitive skin. You may feel the sensation as though you have a mild sunburn on the treated area for a day or two following your treatment. There is no post-treatment pain or downtime. Small cuts are always a possibility when using a blade, but they are minimal and heal quickly.

Post-treatment care: due to the fact Dermaplaning leaves your skin freshly exfoliated, it is recommended that you wear a broadspectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or more after and for the weeks that follow your treatment to avoid any sun damage to your skin.

Dermaplaning is a relaxing and comfortable procedure that only takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. You can have this treatment done on its own or in combination with a facial, a mild chemical peel, or prior to an IPL.

For a softer, more radiant complexion, Dermaplaning is the answer you’re looking for.
